GIVE Award presented to Publix

United Way of Pitt County held its Annual Meeting in May, and it was a great opportunity to celebrate all in our community who GIVE, ADVOCATE and VOLUNTEER.

The GIVE award was presented to Publix for its first campaign. Tim Cochran, Store Manager and new United Way Board Member accepted the award on behalf of the company and its employees. “Publix opened locally in July 2017 and kicked off its presence in the area by having a stellar campaign,” said Emily Maida, Director of Resource Development.

“Publix embodies a culture of philanthropy and have already had such a positive impact on our community,” she continued. “In fact, we already have their employees slotted in to volunteer with our Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to register children at different community events.”

Their total 2017/2018 UWPC campaign this year totaled $77,194, with employees giving $44,694 and Corporate matching (75%) with a gift of $32,500. The campaign consisted of 100 total employees. Out of the 100 employees, 19 were leadership givers, giving $1000 or more.
