United Way of Pitt County is a caring community where the opportunity to improve lives and fulfill human potential is always within reach.

UWPC creates opportunities in our community by focusing on the “building blocks” for a good life: health, education, income, and our unique “Neighbors Caring for Neighbors.” After all, we all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are stronger and healthier and when our neighbors are safer!

The 2009-2011 RFP Grant Process marked a new beginning for UWPC to be further accountable with donor's investments to ensure programs were making lasting impact on root issues within the community. Proposals had to demonstrate:

  • Collaboration with other agencies, programs, or organizations
  • Data-drive, measurable outcomes
  • Lasting change in community conditions.

All-volunteer lead Vision Councils, representing each "building block," reviewed proposals and submitted their funding recommendations to the UWPC Board of Trustees for approval.
